CLAIR SAPILEWSKI is a junior at American University in Washington, D.C. pursuing majors in Journalism and Photography as well as a minor in Environmental Science. 
She is interested in multimedia science journalism and is passionate about communicating complex scientific concepts to the public in fun ways that ignite curiosity. Clair writes and does photography for the student newspaper The Eagle, and does cinematography for the National Park Service. She has over 60 stories published across publications, and has received Journalism Education Association awards for her articles in The Catalyst. Her photos have been recognized at the American University Vision Awards Festival.
Clair is originally from Redwood City, California. She enjoys backpacking, scuba diving, running, origami and learning about ocean science and maritime history.
